Malpractice occurs when the accounting professional either does something incorrectly or fails to do something that the standards of the profession would dictate as necessary. In the event a CPA commits malpractice and becomes legally obligated to pay damages to a third party, the professional liability policy will defend the insured in the suit. If the insured is found liable, the policy will pay the damages, up to the liability limits of the policy, less the deductible.
